Don't Fence Me in Trail Run

The Don’t Fence Me In Trail Run started as a grassroots initiative in Helena to highlight the Prickly Pear Land Trust’s efforts. From modest beginnings with just 50 participants, it has now blossomed into a vibrant tradition, drawing over 2,000 runners and volunteers each year. The event celebrates community spirit and conservation, and this milestone anniversary introduces four new courses. The challenging 50K course, crafted by local ultrarunner Joe Schemechel, takes runners through Helena's scenic South Hills, featuring two demanding summits and stunning ridges. Participants will tackle rugged trails from Pioneer Park to Mount Ascension and experience breathtaking vistas while navigating key landmarks like Rodney Ridge and the beloved Don’t Fence Me In Trail, culminating with a thrilling descent back to the starting point.
