The race features a challenging loop course that begins and concludes at the windmill base camp. Participants will share the trail with horses, as it's designed for foot runners rather than ride-and-tie. The 25 and 50-mile courses are moderately difficult and require significant preparation, traversing steep, rocky terrain through the beautiful mountainous trails of Mingus Mountain, where elevation climbs from around 5000 feet to approximately 7600 feet. Runners should be ready for unpredictable weather, with conditions ranging from sunshine to snow. The base camp is equipped for overnight camping and RVs, though no outside parking or campfires are permitted. Aid stations are available approximately every 5 miles, with pit crews allowed access to select locations to support racers.
