The Freight Train 50k/100k offers an exciting ultramarathon experience along a scenic rail trail, renowned for its flat terrain and slight inclines. Starting in downtown Farmville, runners will make their way eastward, encountering a total elevation gain of under 1500 feet for the 100k course. Weather permitting, participants can expect a swift race, passing over the iconic "High Bridge" twice. With a generous 19-hour time limit for the 100k, this event serves as a welcoming option for first-time ultra runners. Additionally, aid stations are strategically placed for convenience, with drop bags available at key points. All finishers will receive unique handcrafted awards, while the top three male and female runners in each category will be recognized.
