The Western States 100 Endurance Run navigates the challenging trans-Sierra section of the historic Western States Trail. Starting in Olympic Valley, the course features a demanding ascent from 6,200 feet to Emigrant Pass at 8,750 feet within the first four miles. This iconic ultramarathon involves a staggering 15,540 feet of climbing and a 22,970-foot descent, taking runners through remote and rugged terrain rich in history, including pathways originally used by Native Americans and 19th-century miners.
