Ultramarathons present significant challenges, and this one stands out for its demanding weather conditions. Taking place in Virginia during early August, runners must contend with the heat and humidity. Despite its flat and predominantly dirt surface, this course tests endurance and resilience, especially given its potential for high temperatures. The course, a rails-to-trails path with 99.8% dirt composition, is recognized for producing some of the fastest 50K times in the country, showcasing its potential for fast finishes. Runners will find monitored road crossings and can benefit from five aid stations along the route, all contributing to an exciting and rewarding ultramarathon experience.
