The 101 Kilometers of La Legión in Ronda, Spain, isn’t just a race—it’s a rite of passage that melds endurance, history, and the indomitable spirit of the Spanish Legion. Every May, thousands of athletes from around the globe converge on the picturesque town of Ronda to tackle this grueling 101-kilometer (62.7-mile) ultramarathon, with a formidable elevation gain of approximately 2,600 meters (8,530 feet).  Participants have a mere 24 hours to traverse rugged trails, steep ascents, and technical descents that wind through the stunning landscapes of Andalusia. The course weaves through historic villages such as Arriate, Setenil de las Bodegas, Alcalá del Valle, Montejaque, and Benaoján, offering a blend of natural beauty and cultural immersion.  Organized by the elite Spanish Legion, the event embodies their core values: effort, self-improvement, generosity, camaraderie, and solidarity.
