The Costa Rica 200 is a continuous 200-mile ultramarathon spanning the stunning landscapes of Costa Rica, linking the Caribbean to the Pacific coast. Runners will traverse an array of microclimates, starting near Tortuguero National Park and finishing in the surf town of Quepos. The challenging course features a mix of terrain, including singletrack, doubletrack, and dirt roads, and takes competitors through lush jungle, coffee and banana plantations, and steep mountain climbs. Participants will experience extreme temperature variations, ranging from chilly conditions over 8,000 ft to hot lowland areas above 90℉. The race not only presents a strenuous physical challenge but also serves as a cultural expedition, showcasing hidden communities and promoting tourism while supporting local rural and indigenous populations along the way.
