The IMTR is a challenging ultramarathon set in Damascus, VA, featuring a 50-mile course that offers a mix of terrain. Runners will experience easy stretches along the Virginia Creeper Trail and forest service roads, along with technical single track sections. The route predominantly follows the Iron Mountain ridgeline in the scenic Jefferson National Forest, tracing an old path of the Appalachian Trail. This demanding course features a significant elevation gain of approximately 8000 feet.
