Rocky Mountain 50K

Date

May 25, 2025 (Sun)

Races

50K

The race features a scenic and challenging course through the stunning Medicine Bow National Forest, with an elevation beginning at 8,700 feet and descending to 8,000 feet at the 35k turnaround. The 50k and Marathon races primarily traverse dirt and gravel roads, while the Half Marathon runs entirely on these surfaces. This hilly out-and-back route is notable for its beautiful landscapes, offering a unique experience for long-distance runners. Runners must be self-sufficient, as they are required to carry their own water bottles and there are only three aid stations located periodically along the course, providing refreshments like Gatorade and snacks. To minimize littering, participants must fill their containers from five-gallon dispensers, and any littering will result in disqualification. The course is expected to close by late afternoon, and varying weather conditions can influence participant experience.
