The Peak 50K

The Peak offers a thrilling experience for mountain running enthusiasts, featuring a challenging course with significant climbs and steep descents. Competitors tackle a single track trail that ascends Cuyamaca Peak, San Diego County’s second tallest mountain, with the 50K and marathon participants facing a daunting initial 2,200-foot climb over the first 6.5 miles, followed by an impressive 2,800-foot descent to the Green Valley Aid Station. In the 50K, runners complete a short loop before rejoining marathoners for a return challenge to the peak, attaining a total elevation gain and loss of 10,000 feet. Meanwhile, the half marathon mirrors much of the marathon course, featuring the demanding Conejos Trail and culminating in a rapid descent towards the finish.
