BIG BUTTS, hosted by MUTS (MS Ultra and Trail Society), features a challenging trail race that includes 100k and 100K Relay options. The race begins at the Mississippi College cross country pavilion and consists of 7.75-mile loops through both the cross country and Butts Park single track trails. While the course is relatively non-technical with minor hills, the combination of Mississippi's heat and humidity in late July adds an extra layer of difficulty, making it a formidable challenge even for experienced runners. Completing the 100K distance is a notable achievement, as only a few participants have managed it over the years.
