Florida Death Race

The Florida Death Race is a challenging 74-mile journey along a scenic section of the 1,108-mile Florida Trail, mainly following the historic Suwannee River. Known for its technical, winding paths, this race features minimal elevation change, making it deceptively runnable but likely to leave participants feeling fatigued. It's a test of endurance meant to push runners to their limits, all while exploring some of Florida's most beautiful, seldom-seen landscapes. Participants must carry a one-pound unengraved railroad spike throughout the race, symbolizing personal burdens. Upon finishing, if they succeed, they can discard it into a coffin in exchange for an engraved spike, signifying the release of their weight. Those who do not finish must keep their spike as a reminder of their journey.
