The Wakely Dam Ultra is a challenging 55K ultramarathon set in the pristine wilderness of the Adirondack Park in New York. Runners navigate a secluded stretch of the Northville Placid Trail that runs between Piseco Lake and Wakely Dam, facing a technical course with a total elevation gain of 3300 feet. This self-supported race demands proper preparation and stamina, as the only exits are either the Piseco Airport or retracing your steps. Participants must rely on their own resources, making the finish line an accomplishment that reflects significant fitness and determination. As a commitment to the environment, race organizers ensure that the trail is left cleaner than found, with volunteers tasked to collect any trash encountered along the route.
