The Octopus Ultra originated in South Florida, born from a need for a running event during a year of cancellations. This unique race features a central base with eight out-and-back "tentacles," allowing participants to choose their distance. Runners can tackle 26.3 miles, 50k, or 50 miles by completing various combinations of tentacles. Set against the backdrop of Vero Beach's northern landscapes, the course includes scenic trails, parks, and multiple water crossings. However, don't underestimate the challenge—July's tropical heat and 22 bridge crossings demand both endurance and resilience. Completing all tentacles within the time limit earns participants the coveted Octopus Buckle, representing a significant achievement in this demanding event.
