The race takes place in the picturesque foothills of the Eastern Sierra Nevada, featuring high-altitude courses with significant elevation gain. Runners navigate primarily on four-wheel-drive dirt roads, interspersed with brief sections of single-track trail and minimal pavement. The terrain is largely exposed, offering a challenging experience with hot, dry conditions, rocky paths, and elevated altitudes often exceeding 7000 feet. This event serves as an excellent training ground for aspiring mountain ultra-distance racers. Participants should be prepared for a variety of weather conditions, as temperatures can range from cool to quite hot—often transitioning from the 40s to the 90s throughout the day—before cooling off in the evening.
