The Kettlefoot 50K features two laps of a 16.4-mile loop, with each lap boasting about 3,100 feet of elevation gain. Competitors navigate a mix of dirt trails, ranging from singletrack to multi-use double track, making for a diverse and challenging experience. A key highlight of the course is the Kettlefoot Fire Tower, located at the loop's midway point. From this vantage point, runners can enjoy breathtaking views of Watauga Lake, Doe Valley, Neva Valley, and, on clear days, the majestic Grandfather Mountain.
