This picturesque race takes participants from Cross Village to Mackinaw City along the North Country Trail. Beginning at Wycamp Lake, runners are greeted by stunning views from the Sturgeon Bay bluffs overlooking Lake Michigan. After the first 9 miles, a beautiful 5-mile diversion along the Sturgeon Bay Trail enhances the experience before they rejoin the NCT, descending into lush wildflower-filled lowlands at Goose Pond. The next segment traverses pine needle-covered trails through gently rolling forests, culminating in the scenic French Farm Lake area. Here, runners enjoy stunning views of the sandy-bottomed lake surrounded by towering pines. The course then leads through a dense balsam fir forest before transitioning to a flat, smooth rail trail for the final stretch, ending at the Mackinaw City School athletic grounds. This route offers both scenic beauty and a satisfying challenge for all participants.
