Runners are encouraged to participate in the Mayapple Trail Runs, set in the scenic South Mountain Reservation in Essex County, N.J. Organized by the South Mountain Conservancy and supported by local volunteers, the event features races of 10 miles, 20 miles, 50K (31 miles), and 50 miles. This friendly trail running experience offers a supportive atmosphere and a chance to enjoy the beautiful terrain while challenging your endurance. The longer distances, including the 50-miler and 50K, begin with a complex course that integrates both the east and west loops of the reservation. Runners will find aid stations approximately every five miles, stocked with electrolyte drinks and snacks. Participants have the option to switch to shorter distances without facing disqualification, allowing flexibility throughout the race. This event not only promotes physical endurance but also contributes to the conservation efforts within the park.
