The Spirit of Syllamo is an exhilarating ultramarathon set against the stunning backdrop of the Sylamore Ranger District in the Ozark National Forest. The race starts on the Syllamo Mountain Bike Trails, leading into a demanding course that features the Sylamore Trail and parts of the Ozark Highlands Trail. The 100-mile race, which alternates between a longer and slightly shorter route each year, offers significant elevation changes—up to 33,000 feet. Nearly all the course consists of singletrack trails, making for a challenging yet scenic experience. Runners must be self-sufficient with their gear and nutrition, as aid stations are sparse and course markings are limited to key turns.
