Upstate Ultra invites participants to the Annual Prisoner of War Ultra at Camp Croft State Park in Spartanburg, South Carolina, a site rich in history as an Infantry Training Camp from the 1940s. The 24-hour event revolves around an 8-mile loop course, where runners can sense the legacy of training soldiers, often amid the echoes from the nearby firing range, connecting the experience with the sacrifices of veterans. Set in a sprawling 7,000-acre park that once served as an Army training base, the race aims to honor those who served and struggled with the aftereffects of war. A portion of the event proceeds will support maintenance efforts at Camp Croft State Park and contribute to Fellow Countryman, a program led by combat veterans dedicated to acknowledging the challenges faced by service members.
