The Ragged 75 Stage Race presents a formidable 75-mile challenge, featuring roughly 15,500 feet of elevation gain across a diverse course that combines technical single-track trails, steep ascents and descents, fire roads, and sections of pavement. This race primarily follows the scenic SRKG Greenway, encircling Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire. The three-day event consists of three stages—22 miles summiting both Mt. Ragged and Mt. Kearsarge in the first stage, followed by a 25-mile trek over Mt. Sunapee in the second stage, and culminating in a strenuous 33-mile challenge on the final day. Runners are not merely racing against the clock; they benefit from a supportive atmosphere fostered by race organizers, including nightly briefings to share experiences and camaraderie among participants. Accommodations for the stage race include overnight camping at Wadleigh State Park and Sunapee Middle High School, with access to facilities and community space for recovery and social interaction. Each stage features essential aid stations, though participants must carry sufficient supplies to be self-sufficient. Additionally, the event emphasizes the intimate, family-like environment and builds on the sense of community both among competitors and their supporters. Altogether, the Ragged 75 offers a unique blend of camaraderie, challenging terrain, and breathtaking views, making it a distinct experience for adventure-seekers in the running community.
