Grand Island Trail 50K

The race course winds around Grand Island, showcasing the stunning beauty of Lake Superior. Participants will traverse the perimeter trail in a counterclockwise direction, passing by Murray Bay and Duck Lake. At mile three, the route ventures into the Tombolo, leading runners along Trout Bay's breathtaking shoreline before ascending the island's eastern cliffs, offering spectacular views of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. As runners continue into the northern section, they will encounter striking 300-foot Jacobsville sandstone cliffs and the serene North Beach. For those tackling the 50K, the course then heads inland at mile 22, climbing toward Echo Lake and the island’s summit on fast dirt forest roads before returning to the Western Coastal Trail. The course features a mix of single track, two track, and narrow dirt roads, with well-marked paths ensuring an enjoyable experience framed by lush woodlands and refreshing breezes.
